So much could have gone against us in this game
Poor playing surface,no game or training for 5 weeks, three defenders unavailable and a highly motivated Talbot Head team to play that still had an outside chance of the title!!
And it looked a distinct possibility in the first twenty minutes when Talbot dominated the game for long periods and deserved to take the lead when a long ball got stuvk on the poor surface totally wrong footing Scowey
Highfield got back into the game following good work from Nick Lawlor who put Wadder through to equalise just before half time
O Neil had made a successful return from injury and had played a steady 45 mins before Ste Taylor was introduced at half time into the centre of midfield which he dominated for the rest of the game
A re-shuffle of the defence following an injury to Paddy could have made the last 28 minutes difficult but to their credit Nick,Liam,Joe and the versatile Tom McCormack looked more than capable and anything that got past them the ever dependable Scowey coped with easily
A certain penalty was turned down after Daz Smith was fouled and with only a yellow card shown for a certain red card offence when Wadder was through on goal could have caused concern amongst the players but two goals from Nathan Hobson took the points in a very competitive game.
This was an excellent result that showed a lot of determination, great attitude, team work and ability throughout the team.
Ste Taylor certainly made his mark in the second half,Liam Jennings looked back to his best and Ste Brierley and Nathan Hobson made telling contributions but the M.O.T.M. Award went to Wadder for his best effort of the season ( it shows what a quiet Saturday night can do for anyones performance on a Sunday am)
Five games to go and nothing to be taken for granted but with more performances like this we will be in a good position by the end of the season
