HIGHFIELD FC 3rds 1
Cartshaft 1

Report

This was the game that the 3rds should now use as a spring board for the rest of the season.
If the players can maintain this attitude, effort and ability for the remainder of the season then the results will improve and there should be a far more positive outlook for the Management team
It will be important to keep a settled side and this must be encouraged throughout the club
The game itself was a pleasure to watch
Every Highfield player did as they were asked and showed plenty of ability throughout the team
Highfield created the better chances by far and Nathan Mills and Aaron Young will develop better understanding the more they play together
Highfield hit the bar/post 3 times in the first half and looked the better side with Caton and McGowan showing well in midfield
Liam Jennings and Greg looked solid at the back and Mike and Brent completed a strong defensive line
Ross was all over the field, linking well with Mike on the right
Dermot had to go into the back four and looked just as comfortable and composed
More chances came for Highfield and it was against the run of play when a long range shot somehow beat Alan Emmot in goal
Alan made up for this with a couple of good, brave saves
It could have been expected for Highfield to fold after being the better side for so long but to their credit they replied almost immediately when a Danny Clarke cross was deflected into the goal to make it 1-1
Again Highfield could have won it and it would have been no more than they would have deserved
Best on the day were Mills and Young for their efforts up front which will surely reap its rewards in other games.
Greg and Mike showed great qualities in defence,Dermot showed all his experience and held the team together but the MOTM award went to the hard working, quiet boy of the team Ant Caton
Well done to all the lads and lets keep up that good work
